For the 36th edition of the international art and antiques fair TEFAF Maastricht 2023 we present an exclusive selection of paintings, sculptures and works on paper on the theme of music & dance. In the Online Viewing Room we have set up for you on the occasion of Art fair , we present and elaborate on selected highlights of our presentation.
The fascination for rhythm, music and movement is captured in art in numerous works in a concrete, symbolic or abstract way. In particular, German Expressionism and the artists of the "Brücke" have understood music and dance as an expressive art form and depicted them momentarily. The subsequent art movements of Informel and contemporary art also take up the subject in a variety of design techniques.
