Robert Klümpen
Robert Klümpen, born in 1973, is a German painter.
From 1994 to 2002 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under A.R. Penck and Dieter Krieg, with whom he was also a master student.
In 2014, Klümpen was appointed Professor of Painting at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. From 2018 to 2022, he was Professor of Art Education and Painting and Graphic Practice at the Kunsthochschule Halle. Since 2022, he has been Professor of Painting at the Braunschweig University of Art.
Klümpen's work is presented both nationally and internationally. In 2005, he was awarded the Villa Romana Prize in Florence.
His works are characterized by an apparent realism, which is, however, repeatedly broken by abstract moments. He creates life-size depictions of rooms, various scenes or street views with lanterns.
Robert Klümpen lives and works in Cologne and Braunschweig.
