Darya von Berner
Darya von Bernerborn in Mexico in 1959, is a Spanish artist. Her work is primarily dedicated to installations and performances.
The artist studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York under Milton Glaser. From 1984, she received numerous scholarships that took her to Paris and Rome. From 1991, her works were presented in numerous exhibitions throughout Europe and the USA, including at art fairs such as Art Basel and Art Cologne.
While von Berner created naturalistic and realistic paintings in the 1980s, her work continued to develop and change over the following decades, also in terms of technique, with the focus shifting from paintings to performances and installations.
Darya von Berner sees art as a powerful means of creating critical meaning, and her works are therefore always created in dialog with the cultural or everyday environment. Through her art, she tries to conceive new spaces in the real world in which the viewer and the artwork are not separate from each other, but are mutually dependent like a single living organism.
Darya von Berner lives and works in Madrid.
